Privacy Policy

Your privacy, and your child’s, matters enormously to me. This page explains what information I hold, why I hold it, and how I look after it.

Who I am

Linden Tree Play Therapy is the data controller for the information you share with me. If you ever have questions about your data, you can contact me at clare@lindentreeplaytherapy.co.uk

What I collect

When you get in touch, I collect whatever you choose to share — usually your name, email, phone number, and some information about your child relevant to your enquiry.

If we go on to work together, I’ll also keep session and meeting notes, and basic details for invoicing. Because I work with children, this may include sensitive information about their health and wellbeing, typically provided by a parent or carer.

This website does not use cookies, analytics, or tracking technologies.

How I use it

I use your information to respond to you, to plan and deliver therapy, and to keep the records I’m professionally required to keep.

I rely on a few lawful bases for this: providing the service you’ve asked for, meeting my professional obligations, and my legitimate interest in running a safe and ethical practice. I only use sensitive information where it is necessary for providing therapy.

I will never add you to a mailing list, and I will never sell or share your details for marketing.

Who sees it

Your information stays with me. The only exceptions are:

  • Clinical supervision. Like all BAPT therapists, I discuss my work with a supervisor. Your child is never identified by name.
  • Schools or other professionals. When I’m working in your child’s school, some coordination with relevant staff is necessary. Anything wider — a GP or another therapist — only happens with your agreement.
  • Safeguarding. If I’m worried a child is at risk, I have a duty to pass that on. Wherever I safely can, I’ll talk to you first.

How long I keep it

Enquiries that don’t lead to therapy are deleted within 12 months.

If we work together, records are kept securely for a number of years and then safely destroyed.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it where I’m able to. You can also ask me to limit how it’s used in some circumstances.

If you’re ever unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, you have the right to contact the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Keeping it safe

Everything is stored on encrypted, password-protected devices. Paper notes, where I keep them, are locked away.
